What is eip-4844?

What is Ethereum eip-4844?

EIP-4844 is an Ethereum upgrade to reduce transaction costs, specifically on Layer 2s, and improve scalability through Proto-Danksharding. This introduces "blob-carrying transactions” – a sort of temporary storage – which would offload “blobs” to special shards. Sharding is adopted as the long-term solution for Ethereum’s scalability challenges.

What is eip-4844 blob-carrying transaction?

EIP-4844 introduces a new transaction type called a blob-carrying transaction to bring down gas costs. Blob-carrying transactions are like any regular Ethereum transaction but with some extra set of data called a blob.
